Champagne Pierre Peters Réserve Oubliée Grand Cru NV
Tasting notes
Now headed by fourth-generation Rodolphe Peters, Pierre Peters’ Côtes des Blancs based estate is made up of 18 hectares, all of which are dedicated to Chardonnay (most of which are designated Grand Cru). Drawn from a perpetual cuvée of reserve wines used for the nonvintage blanc de blancs. Containing wines dating back to 1988. Here the base wine is aged an extra year in tank before tirage to create a mature, but not oxidative Champagne. Aged under cork.
The Oubilée has a nose that is typically more tertiary straight out of the bottle, dried apples, almond skins, with extremely floral aromatics of water lillies and gardenias. On the palate, still racy and chalky as a signature of the grower - beautiful, structured, complex.
