Adega Pedralonga Albariño 2024
In 1997 Francisco Alonso founded the winery - Pedralonga, which means “big rock” in Gallego, a reference to the huge chunks of granite sticking out of the soil. Adega Pedralonga is located in the parish of Castrelo, just outside Cambados in the Salnés Valley—an area long shaped by decomposed granite soils, steady Atlantic winds, and cool, humid growing seasons. The estate has been farmed by the Alonso family for generations, with its current identity shaped by Miguel Alonso and his son Xurxo, who expanded and refined the vineyards beginning in the 1980s. The farming is organic and biodynamic in practice, relying on handwork, moderate yields, and traditional pergola-trained vines suited to the maritime climate. Winemaking follows a restrained, low-intervention approach with spontaneous fermentations and careful lees aging, emphasizing Albariño’s natural saline tension, citrus-driven profile, and textural detail.
