Hoquetus Les Collines Vineyard Riesling 2023
Hoquetus Wine Co is a tiny winery producing wines of place from sustainably farmed grapes grown and vinified in Walla Walla, WA. Hoquetus is run by Robert, a musician/bartender/sommelier/winemaker, and Bri, a design UX engineer/winery employee. Baby Uly has been in charge for 6.5 years now, and Ms. Daisy Pumpkins, the stay-at-home-winery corgi, provides quality control and occasional dissent.
Tasting notes
Round and rich. Intensely focused, signature Les Collines vineyard petrichor aroma, ripe key lime and meyer lemon citrus, white flowers, stone and tropical fruits, wet-stone, lemongrass, chalk. Balanced with fresh acidity and an extraordinarily long and finessed finish that persists. Delicious now but will evolve beautifully in bottle for years to come.
Production notes
Grapes were hand-picked and crushed underfoot shortly thereafter and left on skins for a few hours, gently pressed and fermented in a mix of stainless steel and neutral oak barrels. 3.3g/L of Residual Sugar. Unfined/Gently filtered.
