Burgundy Winemakers Event, March 6th, 6-8pm
Please join Tacoma Wine Merchants on Friday, March 6th, from 6-8pm for an incredible tasting event with five highly-acclaimed winemakers from Burgundy, France, as they pour a curated selection of their wines from the Cotes-de-Or. This will be a walk-around, casual-format tasting where the winemakers themselves will be chatting with you while pouring their selected wines, including rare wines and Premier and Grand Crus from the Cote d’Or.
This is an incredibly rare event, in fact, one of only two in Washington State (and perhaps the only one of this style). We are incredibly honored to be asked to host them, and who better to ask and learn about the region, the wines, the vines, than the winemakers themselves?
The winemakers attending are:
Guillaume Michel (Domaine Louis Michel) - Guillaume Michel is the current winemaker and manager of Domaine Louis Michel et Fils in Chablis, France. Representing the family's sixth generation, they are renowned for pure, mineral-driven Chablis expressing precision and elegance.
Adèle Matrot (Domaine Matrot) - Adèle, along with her sister, Elsa, are the new generation of winemakers for their family’s winery in Meursault, Domaine Matrot. Adèle produces classic Meursault wines known for balance and finesse.
Paul Carillon (Domaine Francois Carillon) - Paul Carillon represents the 17th generation of a winemaking family which traces its Burgundian roots back to 1520. These are benchmark white Burgundies from Puligny-Montrachet, combining richness, energy, and age-worthiness.
Alexandre Abel (Domaine Ponsot) - Alexandre Abel is the winemaker/manager for Domaine Ponsot, one of the most iconic and distinguished producers in Burgundy, based in Morey-Saint-Denis, known for producing wines of incredible depth and longevity.
Eric Germain (Domaine Vincent Girardin)- Eric Germain is the winemaker for Domaine Vincent Girardin, a pioneer in biodynamics and terroir-driven wines in Burgundy. Eric is praised for the domain's modern expression of Burgundy, with precision viticulture and refined style.
We hope you will join us for this special and rare event. Wines poured will be available to purchase, though some are exceptionally limited. Other wines (not tasted) from the producers attending will be available at a discount to order as a benefit for attending.
We are offering two tasting windows, 4-6pm and 6-8pm on Friday, March 6th. (We will be closing early to host this event.) You do not have to be here promptly, or for the whole 2 hours, we just want to offer you enough time to taste through the wines and chat with the winemakers! $160/person or $140/wine club member. While we recognize this is a pricey tasting, it reflects the wines being poured. But hey, it is cheaper than flying to France to meet the winemakers!
This is registration for the 6-8pm time slot on March 6th.
