JJ Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese 2024
J.J. Prüm – The Benchmark of Mosel Riesling
Nestled on the banks of the Middle Mosel in the historic village of Wehlener, Joh. Jos. Prüm (J.J. Prüm) is universally regarded as one of the greatest white wine estates in the world. Founded in 1911 by Johann Josef Prüm, the estate has been lovingly guided by the Prüm family for over a century and is today in the masterful hands of Dr. Katharina Prüm, the fourth generation.
What makes J.J. Prüm legendary is an unbeatable combination:
• Prime vineyard holdings in some of the Mosel’s most famous sites: Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Graacher Himmelreich, Zeltinger Sonnenuhr, Bernkasteler Badstube, and the ultra-rare Graacher Domprobst.
• Steely, slate-rich soils and incredibly steep vineyards that produce Rieslings of breathtaking precision and transparency.
• A traditional, uncompromising winemaking philosophy: native yeast fermentation in old oak Fuder, no malolactic, extended lees contact, and late (sometimes very late) bottling to preserve freshness and allow the wines to harmonize.
The result? Rieslings that are the ultimate expression of “terroir.” From feather-light Kabinett to opulent Auslese Goldkapsel and ethereal Trockenbeerenauslese, J.J. Prüm wines are famously slow to evolve, often needing 10–30+ years to reveal their full spectrum of citrus blossom, white peach, slate, and wet-stone minerality, all wrapped in laser-like acidity.
For collectors and Riesling lovers alike, few names carry the same aura of perfection and longevity. Owning a bottle of J.J. Prüm is not just buying wine; it’s owning a piece of Mosel history.
“Tasting a mature J.J. Prüm is one of the greatest experiences in the world of wine.” – Jancis Robinson MW
