Lucius by Andrew Latta Bojo Cru Syrah 2021
Lucius Joseph Latta was Andrew Latta's great-grandfather's name, one that always captured his imagination. His grandfather told tough tales of his hardworking father, a farmer & blacksmith in Virginia who took up machining as time marched on. Lucius is Latta's space to adapt to new varietals, techniques and vineyards. A place to learn and explore Washington's incredible terroir with an eye on the horizon. These wines are made from sustainable sites with minimal intervention.
Production notes
New project, new technique for a Syrah from an old haunt. These grapes are from Stoneridge Vineyard, a site Andrew Latta spent much time in for many many years. 2021 was a warm season that is reflected in this classic dark expression. This hand harvested fruit was gently sorted into the fermenter and sealed with loads of carbon dioxide starting the carbonic maceration process that's commonly associated with Beaujolais (BOJO). BOJO CRU.

The 2022 ‘Skin Contact’ comes from the Lawrence and Freewater Rock Vineyards. Right away this shows beautiful white florals on the nose alongside white peach and pear notes. The palate is lush and refined with a silky texture and fantastic sense of weight. Very juicy, with loads of mouth-watering acidity, enjoy now and over the next few years.
