Laurent Martray Brouilly “La Folie” 2022
Laurent Martray is the third generation of vintners in his family. After studying oenology and viticulture, he started making wine in 1987. In 2019, he purchased some of the finest terroirs within the Brouilly and Côte-de-Brouilly appellations in the famed Beaujolais region of eastern France.
Through his brother, Christian, one of the most recognized sommeliers in France, Laurent was able to meet and learn from some legendary French vintners
Tasting notes
“The 2022 Brouilly La Folie is highly perfumed in the glass with aromas of violets, prunes, blackcurrant and licorice. On the palate, the wine’s solar characteristics offer a velvety concentration of dried fruit tones and are well-balanced with an underlying tanginess imparted by the ripe acids. The attack is suave and seamless, however as the tannins gain traction, the wine bears the resistance, culminating in a drying sensation that outweighs some flavoring and salinity.” -Kenna Wells, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.
