Bodegas El Nido 'Clio' 2022
The Bodegas El Nido winery is located in the Aragona valley with over 44 hectares of grapevines of Monastrell (Mourvèdre) and Cabernet Sauvignon. These are very old grapevines and all of them have a north to northeastern orientation.
The Bodegas El Nido only crafts two wines, Clío and El Nido. These wines are crianza aged between 20 and 24 months in oak barrels and they are both produced in very small quantities. These are intense wines that are incredibly elegant and silky, with a perfect balance. These are very well-structured and persistent wines.
This winery has gained international recognition both from wine critiques as well as the general global community of wine enthusiasts. The infamous wine critique Robert Parker scored the 2007 vintage of El Nido at the astonishing score of 96/100. This winery´s international prestige is so vast that El Nido was one of the wines selected for the famous Japanese “Les Gouttess de Dieu” which can be translated to mean “Drops of God” a New York Times Best Selling Japanese manga series about wine.
Tasting notes
This wine exhibits a glass-coating opaque purple color. It has an expressive nose of pain grille, briar, minerality and blueberry and blackberry overtones. This plush, opulent wine has great density, savory flavors and a very lengthy finish that gets better with age.
Production notes
Made by winemaker Chris Ringland. The vineyards of Bodegas El Nido include 12Ha (29.7 acres) of Cabernet Sauvignon and 32Ha (79 acres) of very old Monastrell, with a very low yield. The grapes are harvested in small baskets to prevent bruising, and only the best bunches are selected. Fermented in stainless steel, aged in French oak for 24 months.
