‘Gota’ means Drop. Within each drop Gota seeks to bind authentic Portuguese grapes, flavors, tradition, locality, pleasure and fun. Gota is a group of collectors, searching the countryside looking for treasures. They have created a range of signature wines from the different wine regions within Portugal. Each wine displays the character of the regional climate, soils and most important, the indigenous Portuguese varieties. They maintain close relationships with local growers, with whom they share a common goal to preserve local traditions in the vineyard and in the winery, while embracing modern viticultural and winemaking standards.
The Dão region is one of the oldest and one of the most complex regions of Portugal. And the only one with a thick layer of snow during the winter. On the hills of the highest Portuguese mountain, Serra de Estrela, the vines fight with frost or the baking sun, depending on the season. As a result, this ‘Prunus’ wine from Gota delivers personality, elegance, freshness and softness. The 2020 ‘Prunus’ is a blend of 80% Jaen, 10% Tinta Roriz, 5% Alfrocheiro Preto and 5% Touriga Nacional. These indigenous varietals give aromas and flavors that captivate and seduce and become unmistakable and unforgettable. It’s elegance on a grand scale. Lightly oaked and perfectly balanced, with a silky texture and crisp edge. The nose is packed with plums, mulberries, blackberries and anise. On the palate, black cherry and raspberry fruit tones with creamy and chocolaty oak flavors.
