Souleil Vin de Bonté Rouge 2023
Souleil’s story starts in a sun-drenched wine region of southern France along the Mediterranean Sea, where founders Marianne Fabre-Lanvin and Thomas Delaude grew up surfing and shucking oysters. After years cultivating their own expertise working in wine, these childhood friends began to dream about making a wine that embodies the feel of an endless summer.
In thinking about what kind of wine they love to drink, they knew it had to be fresh and elegant. A wine that that could be poured both as an apéritif — the French version of a sundowner — and at a dinner party, one that’s perfect for starting and ending an evening in true French ‘bon vivant’ style.
While also focusing on sustainability, they created Souleil Vin de Bonté, a vegan and ECOCERT certified organic wine intended to be served with a side of purpose. Part of Souleil Vin de Bonté’s proceeds go toward protecting one of the planet’s most valuable resources: our oceans.
Grenache/Syrah blends from southern France generally fall on the fuller-bodied side of the tasting spectrum. Yet, the 2023 vintage of Souleil Rouge showcases just how bright and easy to drink wines produced from these varieties can be. In the glass, the wine pours a beautiful ruby red hue and offers a bouquet of strawberry, blueberry, and persistent aromas of dried herbs. On the palate, ripe flavors of blackberry jam, cherry coulis, and savory hints of thyme lead to a zesty, well-balanced finish. Serve slightly chilled to allow the wine’s vivacity to shine. Think of it as Cru Beaujolais meets the sunny south of France.
