Château de Pampelonne Côtes de Provence Rosé 2020

In the 19th century, under the Napoleonic regime, at the time of the Italian campaign, Jean-Antoine Falcon, one of the ancestors of the Gasquet family, worked as treasurer for the government. Appointed to Saint-Tropez, he married Marie-Madeleine Cauvin, heiress of an old local family who brought him land in Pampelonne as a dowry, where he had a "villa" built. His eldest son Adrien had the Pampelonne castle converted into its current state under the Second Empire. When he died in 1869, he bequeathed the estate to his wife Amance de Gasquet. In 1920, after the First World War, the Gasquet family decided to plant vines on two hectares which developed over time to reach today an area of 50 hectares.

With a degree in oenology and her many experiences in wine making, whether with her father in Pampelonne or abroad (Chile, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia), Marie Pascaud took over the family farm in 2014. Marie Pascaud is the granddaughter of Christian Pascaud and Geneviève de Gasquet, and continues their traditions today.

The vineyard of Château de Pampelonne is located in its entirety in the AOP (Protected Designation of Origin) Côtes de Provence zone. It enjoys mild temperatures all year round and exceptional sunshine. Over an area of 50 hectares, 80% are sandy soils, combined with a significant maritime influence, promote the concentration of the grapes at the time of ripening. There are a wide variety of grape varieties, some of which are over a century old.

Since the 2018 vintage, the Château de Pampelonne vineyard has been HVE (High Environmental Value) certified. This certification guarantees that the pressure of our agricultural practices on the environment (soil, water, air, landscape) is reduced to a minimum, thus preserving the natural ecosystem.

Tasting notes

A classic Provence Rosé, that is elegant and lively in the mouth, with mineral refinement alongside peach and hawthorn notes. Starts with notes of under-ripe citrus but slowly unfolds to show hints of cranberry, tart cherries, peach and citrus, together with a long, refreshing finish.
