Prà Tasting, September 13, 2026
Sunday, September 13th at 5:30pm
Graziano Prà started his winery relatively recently for Italy..."only" 46 years ago in 1980 with 2 hectares in Soave Classico, and he has since grown that to a 37 hectare estate in both Soave Classico and Valpolicella. Valpolicella being the new project which began when he purchased the Morandina vineyard in 2001, in the Eastern zone of Mezzane, known for its high elevation and lighter, limestone rich soils. Graziano only farms indigenous varieties for his Soaves, the driver of which is the 100% Garganega "Otto", named for the family dog. His Monte Grande Cru is one of Italy's great white wines, and utilizes 30% Trebbiano di Soave (aka Verdicchio) along with late harvested Garganega that gets barrel aged. His reds are bright and snappy, especially the entry point Valpolicella Morandina, which drinks more like a crunchy Beaujolais...definitely think of it as a red made by a white wine maker. And while Amarone is traditionally famous for being a high-alcohol, intensely concentrated, and sometimes heavy "brawn" wine, Prà brings a rare focus on elegance, bright acidity, and mineral precision to the style.
We are lucky enough to be joined by Diego Corradi, export manager and right hand man from the Prà winery. Diego is noted as a core member of Prà's close-knit, young leadership team. He works directly with Graziano Prà on key structural and strategic investments, including evaluating new vineyards and winery equipment. We will also have on hand Chris Stambaugh, of importer Wilson Daniels. Chris most recently joined us for our 2 day Burgundy seminar last Fall - he is a wealth of knowledge and we always look forward to seeing him.
We'll be tasting through a guided sampling of 3 Soave's (whites) and 3 reds, including Prà's 2018 Amarone, paired with some nibbles. Seating is limited, and regisration is required. Tasting fee is $40/$35 wine club members.
